GRC part of the WHH-CHA Webinar on “Starvation Crimes – Hunger as a Weapon in Conflict”
GRC is proud to have been part of the excellent Welthungerhilfe (WHH) – the Centre for Humanitarian Action Berlin (CHA) webinar on “Starvation Crimes – Hunger as a Weapon in Conflict” on Friday 19 June 2020. In the webinar, experts from UN OCHA shared this image of a Mopti, Mali, taken 18 February 2020 © Daouda Maïga, Imadel NGO, showing the destruction of a village and objects indispensable to survival by militia.
WHH and GRC Kompass report 2020 highlighted that Mali ranked 83rd out of the 117 qualifying countries in the latest Global Hunger Index (GHI). USAID nutrition experts estimate that approximately 868,000 Malians, including 160,000 children, are projected to experience severe acute malnutrition, requiring humanitarian assistance.
